Camaro guys - better, brighter fog light bulb available
Put simply, the stock 37W bulbs really don't do a whole lot in the Camaro fog lights. Many go with HIDs, but some have had issues with some of the 880 HID bulbs not wanting to fit the housings due to bulb length.
The 98+ Camaro projector fogs are mostly metal and glass, so there really isn't a risk of melting anything. I looked at all the various 880-based bulbs and found the 886 - 50W instead of 37W. Cheaper than an HID kit, no risk of the bulb being too long, so heck I figured I'd try it.
They are actually noticeable when I turned them on. Sweet!
I checked the housings after using them for a couple months, just to be sure, and there was no signs of heat damage whatsoever.
Just an FYI to you guys looking for something brighter but not sure about going to HIDs
Oh, firebird guys, I don't suggest you try this - I've read the birds use plastic housings/lenses and those would melt with the added heat output.

Yeah I found mine at Advance Auto.
Oh, and regardless of which bulb you do end up getting, DON'T get any with the gray "cap" on the top. It just cuts down on light output for us. The Firebird guys should use the capped ones because of glare from the hotspot of the bulb, but since the Camaro has projectors all the cap does is reduce light output out the top and makes a dark spot on the projector bowl.

I can't. Car was wrecked last month, sold the fog lights.... I just posted this after the fact after I remembered I had done this when I pulled them out of the car to sell the housings. Had waited because I wanted to be sure the 50W wasn't going to damage the housings, which it didn't. Didn't think it would, being all metal and glass, but wanted to be sure.
