holy ****!!!!
i paid $730 to have my ram air hood painted and installed along with having the headlight doors repainted and the B pillar between the t-tops and rear glass repainted. they had to fill a hole in the hood and fix the corners. $2800 is a ripoff. then again my car is basic black which doesn't really need blending.

Honestly, $730 seems a little low, but for what you got painted it's about on par as well. Comparison.
$730 - hood, headlight doors, b-pillar.
$2800 - body work on hood, body work on spoiler, blend onto left fender and right fender, repaint nose cone, blend onto rear quarters and blend onto bumper.
They'll probably prep every panel of your car minus the mirrors, b-pillar, and doors; then shoot them all with clear. (which is what happens when you blend a panel of your car)

$2800 is too much. I would definitely shop around if I were you.

i think what you can take away from this thread is that you won't get your answer on here whether the quote you mentioned is a good deal or not. Only you can make that decision. Your best bet is to shop around in your area and decide whatever quality of work you are willing to pay for and go from there. It doesn't matter if someone else has done it for $700 if that price is not available in your area. You'll also have to weigh how clean your car is, how low the mileage on your car is, will this add to the value or take away, will you enjoy it, etc...
don't forget that these cars are NOT going up in value with more mods and more miles.

FWIW i just checked a recept i have from getting some hinges painted and installed at the same shop that did the hood from 2 weeks ago and their labor rate for body work and paint is $46/hr. I didn't find the recept from when the hood was installed but i found one from 3 years ago for a bumper replacement after the hay bale incident and their labor rate back then was also $46/hr.
$100/hr seems kind of steep for body shop labor. Around here mechanical labor is around $96/hr but body shop labor is cheaper.

That really doesn't seem outrageous. You better look into their business a little more and possibly see some of their work. For a high quality shop I see no problem with that price. Some of the shops around here that paint show quality, take car apart and paint it correctly. Not cheap out and tape over ****, for an f-body is definately $7000-$10,000 for a full paint job.
Hell, I had a clean dodge spirit, nicest one around (obviously didn't have my bird yet
) and one day at work, a kid threw a chunk of metal in the dumpster and it bounced out and dropped from 6 ft above my hood. His boss paid for it, but it was $700. No fender blending, etc. I took it to the body shop that we used on all of our cars and the paint was spectaculer. of course he paints a lot of high end muscle cars, and his work is definately worth it. And I wanted the quality job, hell I wasn't paying for it.
