Removing "honeycomb" from trans am tail lights?

Removing "honeycomb" from trans am tail lights? I was just wondering if anybody had every attempted to remove the black honeycomb from the trans am tail lights?
I just want something different and I think it would look pretty good.... I don't like all of the black on the tail lights...

if its possible it would mean that we could (theoretically) get 'custom' tail lights.
imagine if BLS or somebody decided to make cool looking 'bird tail lights that WERENT just honeycombs or legos. look at all the people doing headlight conversions/hid tails/etc.

Sidenote: Why does that formula have base firebird tail-lights and not LT1-Forumla/Trans-Am tail-lights?
