Also, if I get them retrofitted do I just need the ballast adapter to go to a D2S bulb from (AMP)to make them work?

a moderator by the name of VIP1 is the go-to guy when it comes to projectors. He has a set of Hella 90s but recommended to me Infiniti FX-Rs or Morimoto Minis. FX-Rs are the replica of the FX projector I believe. That is what I am going with for what it is worth. Also, I beileve VIP1 is swapping out his Hellas, but that shouldn't be dispositive for you considering he has a different model and a different car.

thanks for the quick response. I'll go with the FX-Rs. THere is a retrofit place near me in Clifton NJ. I have 2 headlights, OEM ones and eBay halo ones. The eBay ones have a black shroud in them that looks like it may impede light output. Do you think I should get the OEMs retrofitted or the eBay ones? I kinda like the halos but want the most light. These are the ones i bought:

I run the fx-r bixenons and absolutely love them. the spread is further than I can even see out of the windshield, it overlaps past both a-pillars.

for the bulbs, I used a standard 55W HID kit with an AMP to D2S adapter

how much do the retrofits run and whats the work look like? TSX or S2000 projectors are the best, i ran E55s in my old dodge show car i had. good setup, but by the time projectors, ballasts, and labor if you dont do it yourself is figured in you are lookin at like 500-700 bucks. thats alot of money that could be spent on going faster

According to VIP1, the FX-R is superior to the TSX. I trust his knowedge on this subject. And yes, a retrofit is likely to cost over $700, but for those of us that are not handy, that $700 is worth the peace of mind.

$700!!!, screw that then. Am i better off with an e!ay projector headlight set? The ebay headlight with leds allows for a 9006 bulb but the cffl projector headlight has some kind of rubber boot and i think.you have to use their bulb. Is there any decent ebay projector headlight set that allows for the 9006 hid bulb?

I currently have eagle motorsport reflector headlights like stock but with halos and they scatter the hgid light everywhere. They also have a black shroud in them, would that impede light output?

Those ebay projector headlights are the worst kind. They do a shitty job of outputting the light. Be careful with them, some have just a plastic projector lens. Do it correct and do a retrofit. Maybe more money but they will last longer, be of better quality, and be safer at night. $700 for go fast parts that you will outrun your headlights, or $700 for better lighting at night to stay in front of your go fast parts. Sometimes it's not all about speed.

I agree, I'm going to retrofit them myself using "ec_nova"'s help. I appreciate everyone's input!

Agent- I admire you. I wish I could scavenge the courage to undertake this myself. Use this for reference:

Sorry I'm late to the party (nearly a year late... wtf, how's I miss this).

Anyway..... qwickz28 got most of it right up there except the price. You can do you own retrofit for less than Half the $700 he quoted. You can do it in the $200 - $300 range.

Especially now with the Morimoto Mini H1 projectors. In your case AgentLS1Z, for your 1998 Z28, I'd recommend the Morimoto Mini H1 projectors from The Retrofit Source since the 1998 Z28 has housings in which you can install these. They are aftermarket HID projectors designed to use a H1 HID kit and be easy to install. Check out the time-lapse video here for a sample install: http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/show...-Mini-retrofit

Otherwise, if you don't mind a little more work, check out the FX & FX-R projectors. They have a little better output than the Morimoto Mini H1 and the FX is OEM (the FX-R is an aftermarket replica). The FX & FX-R use D2S bulbs which are regular OEM HID bulbs. Another good choice, but physically larger is the RX330. Check out the Forums at HID Planet for more info.
