Default what to use to get tape off??

well first let me state i just got back from my 3rd deployment to iraq a few hours ago and i cant wait to hit the streets again in my CETA, seen soooo many RT challengers and 4.6/5.0 stangs to run now that im back. well any how i just got back and seen my car for the first time in about a year and i guess the window motor went out with the window half way down now the car was in a car port this whole time but with the some time foul weather here in central texas my wife thought it would be a good idea to put a trash bag in the window and put brown tape around the edge of the bag and its been like that the whole year. well now the tape it all nasty and gross looking and has left the gooie residue all over basicly the whole passenger side of the car. so my question is what best to use to get this off so i can have a pretty yellow car again.

thanks

adam

really like the citrus-based adhesive removers like GooGone because they are non-toxic, biodegradable, and can be readily found at hardware, department, and grocery stores. It should remove the goo. I would wash and wax afterwards.

First - Thanks for your service!

Second - you could try using some WD-40, that sometimes can cut the goo. Not sure if goo-gone or goof-off is safe for paint or not, if they are I'd try those as well.

I've always used some rubbing alcohol for things like inspection stickers, might work for this too.

I thought gasoline was bad for your paint? And I'd say just try wd-40 and maybe goo-gone, but I'm not sure if goo-gone will do anything to the paint.

haha back to the mistress. that made me lol. wd 40 has worked well for me on glass. id be careful not to get it on the paint though. otherwise goo gone or some other all natural cleaner would work

3M makes a general purpose adhesive remover in a spray can. I have had great luck removing any gooey residues with it. I spray over the glue then start rubbing. Soon the glue dissolves and wipes away.

I used the Citrus Goo-Gone with no problems on the paint. I used it to take the adhesive stuff off the side of the fiancee's Camaro when I took the side moldings off her's and never looked back. And OP, thank you for your time and effort for this country.
