Default How to mount emblems to billet grill?

So I ordered a black billet grill for the SS and have a set of 1960's nova emblems I would like to mount in the center. How do I go about getting them to stay put permanently?
I know this has been done before but I don't think anyone has ever posted a write up or instructions. The pegs/posts on the back of the emblem do not look long enough to poke all the way through the grill, effectively eliminating the possibility of using the traditional twist on sheet metal nuts.

If the posts are removable just buy some all thread of the same thread type and cut to length. If its permanent you might be able to find a female collar or threaded sleeve to extend it along with all thread to reach the back!
Just take the emblems and grill with you to a well stocked hardware store and start looking, I'm sure you will find a solution with a little brainwork.

Thanks man, I dont have the grill yet (in the mail) so i don't know exactly how much im going to have to make up for. I was just wondering as I was looking at the emblems, since the little nubs on the back only look to be about 3/4" long

So which do you think will look better?

Or this same one with black center emblems/chrome edge? All other emblems on the car will be the black center version like this:

You're going to need two couplers from the hardware store (basically a threaded sleeve) that the nubs fit into, snug. Then, take two bolts (you're going to have to experiment with sizes), two large washers, and attach them to one side of the coupler. The only way to get those damn "nubs" on the emblem to stick to something is to use JB Weld (can also pick this up at the hardware store), since they're not threaded. Super glue doesn't work - as soon as you start to torque the emblem onto the grille, the glue breaks. The large flat washer will need to be relatively large, because that is what holds the emblem tightly up against the back side of the grille. If you really need the sizes of these pieces, contact 6LE; he makes these emblem mounted grilles all of the time, and I'm sure he has to order the components to match.

Also, that's my car that you just posted above..

Thanks man, which one did you use for the attached grill emblem?

Nova ?
Camaro ?
El Camino / Chevelle version?

They were all different and had a different angle and nub length.

You would have to ask 6LiterEater - whichever he included with the package. I think it was the '69 Camaro - but don't hold me to it.

I can tell you for certain that the nubs on my emblem were not 3/4" long, but closer to 3/8"-1/2". Longer may be better, however, since it would make more contact with the JB Weld - and if you needed to trim them down, you could always dremel the ends off.
