It's mounted pretty far forward almost to the bottom of the windshield and it projects behind the hood cowl so it usually has a black background. I do have issues with mid morning light reflecting off the projector which blows out the image on the glass. At this point it looks like I have to remove HUD since it's impossible to differentiate the second number with 2 LEDs out. I have pictures somewhere of them when first installed, so I'll need to re-upload them.

I ended up removing the HUD today. The missing LEDs got too annoying. Here are a couple shots of when it was new. I do want to replace it, though. It was awesome when it was working. I loved being able to see my speed without looking down. It looks like I can only replace it with the same model, however, since most of the new OBD2 HUDs don't work with the old GM comm protocol, but will work with almost any 2006+ car.

I'm sure you see it but there is a switch on the wire itself, not sure why its there because when its plugged in and the switch is off the Gas/ Volt and Speedo go crazy. That's the only thing I can think of besides maybe that wires in that switch aren't soldered anymore ... you can take it apart by taking out the 2 screws in the switch plate itself.
