Default Decent car cover?

Hey guys, my car is always in the garage but you know how a garage is, you don't want to move the car out every time you wanna do a little project in there. So, what's a decent car cover that will fit the car nicely and won't break the bank? The paint on my car isn't perfect but any means so this doesn't need to be the best of the best, just something that fits nice and protects the car from any kind of nasty grit that might be flying around in the air or paint overspray from a rattle can. Thanks.

I bought this one for my GTO. It's a custom fitted outside cover. I was very impressed with it. This company also makes ones just for inside use, I'd recommend them 100%. I've had a cheap cover before and it's no comparison. I had this one on for months outside and when I took the cover off the car was spotless. Also the inside fabric is plush, don't have to worry about scratches.

I'd rather pay the extra few $100 for a nice cover if you want your car to remain perfect, a cheap one will definitely scratch it and probably hold in moisture.

Another vote for CoverCraft here. I have their Dustop series (premium level for indoor covers) for both of my garage queens; they fit perfect and are top quality. Yes, they are pricey but they last forever (I've had the one for my '98 for 15 years now and it's still in excellent shape) and do an incredible job of protecting the finish and filtering dust.

I don't care how good the cover is. If you put it on dirt/unclean paint....it's going to **** some **** up.

I’ll second the Dustop covers. Perfect fit, soft interior to prevent marring and they leave the finish virtually dust free.

You don't even have to put it on an unclean car. I meticulously washed and got my car ready and then I covered it under my town house's car port. Well, in the spring the landscapers were cleaning the roads and blew dirt and dust and it got under my cover. The rubbing of the car cover with the dirt created scuff marks on my fenders. I was able to buff them out completely in the fall, but I was pi$#ed off. Sometimes I feel a car cover is more trouble than it's worth.

When it comes to outdoor storage, this is often true.

But in terms of indoor storage, there is virtually no downside to using a cover as long as the finish (and inside of the cover) is clean when the cover is applied. The only exception would be in a humid environment where even a breathable cover might still trap some additional moisture and cause some level of interior molding. But this can often be avoided with a product such as Damp-Rid placed in the interior.

I have been using a Coverking Storm Proof cover since 2017 for every winter, so we are coming up on 4 winters this year. Always put down an extra layer of visqueen undert the cover in the T-Top area with overlap, and a few moisture bags inside. It was spendy ($699 or something?) but if you park outside for extended periods of time in very bad weather, it's a great investment. The next best thing would be a covered parking area!
