Default Deleting the side moulding???

So I've seen a few cars online with the side molding removed and I really like the way it looks... it really cleans up the side of the car and the body lines match up much better IMO.

What's the best way to remove the molding without damaging the paint, and without having a section that looks different from the rest of the car? The paint on my 93 is OK, not terrible but not great either.

Were there cars that came from the factory with no side molding?

i think all cars from the factory had side molding. the best way to remove it I believe is with some thin fishing line, start at one end, in a cutting motion to break the adhesive that holds them on there...

I've done it after getting a positive opinions about doing it from everyone on the board , looks much cleaner , and you can search my thread if you want "to remove side mouldings or not ?" I think the best way to do it is to get a fishing line and use that to separate the moulding from the door , you'll probably have some glue left on the door , but a good cleaning will take care of that .

I dont know if any cars came from the factory without them , but I havent seen anything like that..

also , If your car has been in the sun too much or something , the paint may have faded a little bit , but It shouldnt be terrible..

good luck !

I removed the body side molding on my RCSB Silverado's doors ... it looks soooo much better. I started with dental floss .... it didn't last long. I ended up getting it started with sewing thread then pulled the trim off with my hands. Use Goo-Gone or similar to remove all the tape, glue and residue. I am considering doing the same with my SS.

Thanks for the info guys... hopefully the paint difference won't be too bad. I plan on getting a paint correction done in spring anyway so I'm sure it will look good no matter what.

I removed mine. I started with some floss, then just slowly pulled it off. Then went back and rubbed the glue with my thumb and let it roll/ball up.
