BTW I installed a new valance (old one was broken) on the Yukon, new fog light housings, 35 watt 5000k HIDs in the fogs and low beams, and debadged and demolded the entire thing. Took me a full Saturday to do everything, but it looks alot better IMHO......heres a couple pics and sorry for the 2nd one

And how it looked when I picked it up...

I canceled the order on the yoke and muffler today since they won't be on hand until later next month and ordered a TA relocation kit from UMI The Mufflex kit I'm getting has a filler piece where a muffler will go so I will be able to get everything fitted up and then simply install the muffler when its available. Now I just need to return the driveshaft loop I ordered since its for a 3rd Gen and get the right one, hopefully I will have time to do that today.

3.5" exhaust is ordered from Hawks3rdGen, hopefully they send the right kit. I couldn't get through on the phones so I ordered the 4" (3.5" isn't on their website) and in the comments told them I wanted the 3.5" piping....fingers crossed that they either call me to confirm or they actually ship the 3.5".

I guess worst case scenario I send back the merge and get a 4" and then get a 4" Borla.

Next Friday I'm ordering the muffler and yoke (again), then its damn close to being able to fire up for the first time in almost 2 years. And I can NOT wait to hear the new exhaust setup

Ok after another break I'm getting this thing going again, I'm tired of the car taking up space in the shop and I really miss driving the thing...I'm starting to think things are fast that aren't haha.

This weekend I'm going to start back on the rear axle and try to get something together to get the 8.8 back under the car. Then maybe start fabbing the y-pipe so I can get the mufflex installed. I still have a fw parts left to order, but that should happen in a couple weeks, I'm just going to order everything else at once.

Anyway heres the 3.5" mufflex, it has been sitting in a box in the shop for a few weeks now. Not alot of piping for $450

Back again with a little update. I got all of the brackets cut off except the watts link brackets. I tack welded the TA mount up and fitted it to the housing. Also organized my parts pile and figured out where everything went. Now I have to weld on the new LCA/shock mounts and the bag mounts then have a local welder weld on the TA mount. Hopefully next weekend I can have my part done and drop the axle off during next week

Heres some pics...

Dropped the rear axle off at the welding shop today and he said it should be done tomorrow. I'm having him weld on the TA mount and weld the axle tubes to the housing. I also ordered a new pinion yoke flange and new bolts as well as new air bag mounts for the axle since I ruined the old ones when they were removed.

This weekend the 8.8 should be installed with the TA mount and I'm going to start on the y-pipe and fitting the exhaust. Its getting really close, over the next couple of weeks I should have all of my parts and hopefully be able to get the alignment done the first week of May and be driving it again

People weld the steel axle tubes to the iron case. It's possible.

Use the right material, the right heat, and you can weld it just fine.

Got the call tonight that the axle was done, so my dad is gonna pick it up for me tomorrow since he works in the same town as the welder. So this weekend I should be able to make my car a roller with the 8.8 in there finally

And I talked to the welder and he said that the housing is cast steel, and I guess you don't have to preheat it like cast iron...I dunno, he has about 40 years experience so I wasn't about to argue with him. He told me not to worry about the strength of the welds, so I will see for myself.

Now I'm just waiting for parts to show up and more funds to order more.

Made some good progress today. I organized all of my parts that I had laying around and stacked inside the car, installed the UMI TA relocation kit, SFCs are loosely bolted in (waiting to get it on the ground to tighten them all the way down), installed the DS loop, installed the y-pipe, test fit the mufflex, installed the fuel filter and routed the fuel lines, started the brake lines, and started welding up the LCA mounts but ran out of wire before the first one was done So tomorrow I'm going to get some brake line fittings and some welding wire and see if I can get the 8.8 installed and start filling up all of the fluids. If all goes well I should get everything done after next weekend except installing the new seats.

I'll get some pics uploaded tomorrow, lots of flash under the car now I'm making my brother and my buddies jealous haha

Also should add that my Mufflex didn't come with one of the rear hangers so I'm either going to have to make one or get ahold of them, but I'll see what they say, sucks spending that much on something and its missing parts

Front brakes are done, rear brake line is ran but we are waiting for the rear axle to be installed to finish it up. LCA/shock mounts are done, watts link is put back in, my UMI TA is now black My cruise control is now MIA as well, I melted the cable with the header and need a new cable, but I'll keep it around incase I ever want to put it back in with a new cable

Now whats left...
hook fuel lines to the motor
weld LCA mounts to axle
finish rear brake line
put the guts back in the rear axle
Install the steering shaft
get a few exhaust pieces and install the pipes
do the power steering lines
paint my seat brackets when they come
install the passengers side window harness
bolt up the seats (ordering them Friday)

Next weekend we may go to a swap meet and walk around a little bit, but I think I'd rather get some more work done on my car.

Anyway heres a couple pics...

Borla came in today, but its only 16 7/8" not 18" like Summit said it was. I guess I'll make it work. But I'm getting sick of ordering something and when it comes its different

More new parts today, passengers side window fix harness, -6 fuel line fittings, and a -10 power steering fitting. Tomorrow hopefully the seat brackets show up and my 3-3.5" exhaust adapter. I'm not using the flowmaster merge right now, I'm just going to get everything put together and working, then I will go back and take care of a few things like the y-pipe, remove the heater box, reworking the factory wire harness to remove alot of the plugs and wires that are no longer used as well as a few more things I'm probably forgetting.

Anyway some pics...
