I personally think the 93-97 Camaro's front-end looks FAR better than the 98+ version. The stock hood w/ those Jaguar like curves is OK but I cannot get over how FUGLY those bubble headlights are. Looks like a damn Chrysler Concorde. I might add a 4" Cowl someday(unless I get an LT1 Z which looks downright bada$$$ with a Cowl). But for now, I think I'm going to add some Carbon fiber blackouts to the front. I've seen them on other colors and I actually thought they looked terrible but for some reason they seem to look good on a black Camaro IMO. They kinda help hide(blend in) those ugly headlight covers and make the car look more aggressive.

And should I get them for the rear too? I already like the tri-color tailights though. Whatcha ya think?

At first I didn't like the '98-'02 front end styling much but it grew on me over time and now I like it more. I personally don't like the blackouts on the '98+ models and here the Cops are ticketing people driving around at night with blackouts on at times.

If they're DOT legal, the ticket wont hold up in court, unless they count it as some kind of fucked up impared driver vision type thing. But if they'd DOT legal, the ticket wont hold up.

And i much prefer the 98-02 looks over the 93-97. But blackouts on either dont look bad @ all. Some people have had problems w/ either the film, or the adhesive of the blackout "melting" onto the lamp. And all around blackouts look sweet. i prefer the brighter HID look up front, w/ clear corners, HID fog lamps, and just stock lenses out back, but to each their own.

I see what you guys are saying but I still think the LT1 Camaro's front-end looks so much more aggressive and even better with an aftermarket hood(SS, Ultra Z, Cowl, etc...).

I'm just not crazy about the headlights and front grille of the LS1's. An SLP bow-tie grille will be on order soon. And I don't prefer blackouts on the other colors(it just looks bad IMO) but for some reason they seem to look good on black because they kinda match like I already said. But I think I'll stick with the tri-color tailights.

Any more opinions?

2000LS1Z28, everyone's entitled to their opinion man. Just cause you think something else looks better, dont make it any more wrong/right then my opinion. Glad we've got a forum specificially designed to help everyone voice that opinion w/o everyone gettin all butthurt about being offended.

No matter what, enjoy the ride while she's there And keep it rubber side down!

That's why I asked the question so I could get some different responses. I hope you didn't think I was laughing off your response or anything, because I wasn't at all. With the internet(message boards), it is so easy to perceive things the wrong way and I don't know why? Anyways, no big deal(just so there isn't a misunderstanding).

I think blackouts make the car look sleaker and more aggressive. I got them on my black 98 ss.

My 98 looks mean, without blackouts. Just clear lenses. Check it out. Why spend boat loads of money. Just go for the Ultra-Z hood. Now that's mean!!

I strongly reccomend that you dont put the tail light blackouts on!! I did on my 2000 Camaro and the plastic on the taillights melted!!! I guess the way the blackouts fit they act like a magnifying glass with the sun and they just retain heat. That is unless you want to spend $146 a piece for new tailights. The only weird thing is 93-96 Camaro's dont have that problem.

Mike, that's the look that I would go for, If you do the black or carbon headlight covers, I would do the parking light covers, too. And carbon tailights would make the look complete.

I like old buildings.
They spent alot of money to tear it down so weeds could grow insted of finding something to put in there.

I used to have those on my SS, and I got rid of them...I loved the styling, but when it came to vision at night...well they sucked... it wasn't until I was driving on an on-ramp (the 270* circle ones) at night that I realized I couldn't see anything! So I went with the clear corners instead...looks a little bit better to me.. good luck whatever you decide!

I think the blackouts on the front of a black Camaro look ok, but I'm really just not into blackouts to be honest.

A different hood would do worlds for the front of your car though Mike. Ultra Z, SS, cowl, whatever...they all look badazz

I think headlight covers LS1 Camaros look pretty good. I don't like taillight covers though. I also don't like headlight covers on LT1 Camaros, the front end just looks too mean to cover it up like that.

I used to have the front end of my Camaro blacked out. I liked the way it looked, but it cut down so much on the light being emitted from the headlights, that sometimes it was downright scary to drive at night with the covers on the headlights.
The covers on the LS1 Camaros, DO NOT go on and off easily, so it's not like you can take them on and off for night driving. Once I put them on, the only time I took them off was to take them off for good.
