T-top holder mount question
I was gutting the TA today to redo the interior and when pulling out the t-top holders and trunk carpet, I found this wood block on the left side. The left t-top holder was screwed into it. Doesn't look like this is how it came from the factory. Anyone know what piece should be there? Either way, the wood is cracked and needs to be replaced, but I'd rather put the right part back in.

depending on how proper you want to do it, you can do it the way I did when I did my conversion. The hardtop cars don't have that metal bracket that spaces the mounting location off the inner wall. Instead of welding in new material, i say grind it smooth (primer it so it don't rust) and space it out with washers. The only downside is you have to through bolt it which means drilling holes where the screw studs are supposed to be. But since both of your are gone, I don't think it's too big of a deal. Just silicone the outside of it so water doesn't get in.

Thats an idea, thanks. I don't know if you can see in the pic, but it looks like the right side bracket was cut in the middle and it was drilled into the body. There was no spacer or anything on that side. I haven't pulled the wood block off the left side, but I think its going to be the same there.
Now I'm thinking about scrapping it all together and putting a subthump box with t-top slots back there.

That **** was hilarious! Like fixing an exhaust leak with a Sparks can...
I had the same problem with mine. Someone stuffed a box in the back and had beat the studs flat with a hammer! I bent them back, or tried, only breaking one per side, thank God. I now have t-top holders that are held on by one stud each, but so far, so good.

Hey, you guys with normal ttop holders that weren't damaged;
Are the holders pretty solid?
Idk if it's typical gm quality or what but mind seem kind of rickety and loose. When I drop in the tops, the holders move a round and flex when I lock the tops in.
If the slop is typical then whatever. But if they are supposed to be more solid, then that merits further disassembly and inspection.

I am sorry that you feel that your T-top holders are not what you expect from T-top holders. Private message me if I can be of assistance.
