We can re-cover stock steering wheels now. We can even 2-tone the wheel, but we can't add anything to the wheel as far as shaping it. We can also do any color stitching you'd like.

The turn around is about 3 days after we receive it.

^^^ Douche move right there, you told us you weren't sure if you were correct. This is what you posted:

When asked you failed to provide a link to the thread that supposedly according to you provides instructions on how to do this mod:

and then you have the audacity to call on someone for just wanting to make sure that what you said was correct before they started tearing into their car and buying parts.

"If I remember right" and "I could be slightly off" just doesn't cut it. Raptor_WS6 is completely right to look into this. I wouldn't do this mod either without a second opinion from someone who has actually done this.

What about adding just a hint of padding underneath to get a little bit thicker wheel?

Please PM the details as I'd love to get my wheel recovered with red stitching but want it to be just a tad bit thicker like the 98 camaro's were.

Speaking of thickness isn't the small diameter of the wheel grip on the Fbodys to an extent a safety hazard? The reason manufacturers stopped using small diameter grips like on many of the older classic cars is that these wheels were weak, would break in an accident and the sharp edges of a broken wheel could severely hurt a driver.

^^^ Imagine that cutting into your stomach during a crash.

I figured id throw my two sence in on this one since i have some experience and just never ballsed up to actually finish the project. I have a wheel off an 07 Corvette (just a side note, its the same wheel that comes in the cobalt, g5, g6, and pretty much every other production gm in that year range with some subtle diffrences between them all) It dose spline up no problem at all. The issues ive never worked out were the horn and the airbag. Its a simple enough fix on the the horn as its just simple wiring. The airbag im not quite sure about and its hard to get info out of gm techs because of liablity issues. But the best i can determine it is compleatly feasable and should work just fine. The wheels are fairly cheap but beware, the airbags are salty

id take a wheel thats factory and thicker, custom is going to be too much . I could see spending 300 -350 bucks . I would just want the airbag to work . I wouldnt care about thew wheel controls but i just wanted a thicker factory wheel to work with the 98-02s .

i could care less if the air bag works honestly lol i know i know. i dont plan to crash it lol

and i could care less for the radio controls thats why i think the g6 wheel w/o any controls would be ideal. now i just have to find one lol

im really surprised how many people really care about their airbags in these cars. grant has airbag steering wheels now for the new cars and trucks. you can look into those aswell. alittle more expensive but more styling.

The Grant wheels are pretty badass, but unfortunately they have nothing for us 4th gen f-bodies utilizing the factory airbag. I emailed them already asking and haven't gotten any response.

This is very confusing to me, if you don't care for the airbag or the steering wheel controls whats stopping you from getting an aftermarket wheel like one of these:
