I just bit the bullet and bought the $50 from hawks 3rd gen on Ebay. With time wasted trying to wait for a part out to be posted and hope to see it first and get the ashtray lid only to save like $20-30....figured why not. I don't smoke or let anybody smoke in my car, but I'm **** about small broken stuff like this.

I found some tiny springs at lowes and fixed the problem...along with some JB weld

My cutout switch & quarters live in that lil special ash tray, so I don't wana glue it.

I read here that its not just the lid that breaks , there's a spring too that has to be replaced by taking out the center console?

theyre always broken , I bought I new one once , It broke the same day .. I just put my ipod in there now .. might also glue it shut too ..
