Do the sonars need any modification to switch diff HIDs? I wanna run a10k HID but I don't know if the projectors come like that or if I would have to change them myself.

Mine just involved cutting a thin slit down the middle of the rubber grommet thingy, that covered the end, since the wiring for the HID bulb sticks out a bit. And then I just secured the grommet by securing it with a zip tie; looks very clean.

So its just a matter of taking that rubber thing off and putting the HID I want...

Pretty much. It's a bit of a tight fit in there, you have to be careful to be sure to line up the bulb properly, but it will slip in fine.

What I did with the rubber cap on mine was just snip a small hole in the very back of it and pull the wires through that hole. That way the caps still stay on the way they were designed to instead of needing a ziptie to hold them on.

Is there any projectors without halos?

I've thought about doing a retrofit project on my headlights just curious if there was an easier route instead of opening up my headlights.

No. they use H3 bulbs, the output is only kinda OK-ish. The Sonar ones mentioned earlier are much better.

Shame, because I think those look better than the Sonars personally, but oh well.

The Sonars use H1 bulbs for the projector. But just note that bulb type isn't everything - there is another style projector that has H1 as well, but the cutoff is a little wonky on it.

for you guys with the sonar lights (talking to you, COBRAHUNTER!) I have a set of sonar lights to install on my 02 Z28. They've been laying around since Xmas, and I want to get them on ASAP.

Of course I have no idea what I'm going, since they came with no instructions whatsoever!

QUESTIONS-

#1 -The outer light (the projector) comes with a bulb, but what about the inner (high beam) light? Does it just use the old bulb from the factory lights? I know you can upgrade the bulbs if you want to, but I'm not worried about that at this point. I just want to know if there's anything else I have to buy to make these work.

#2 - I want to hook up the halos, but how do you hook them up? Do you have it so that they are on all the time, by somehow tying the wires into the parking lights which are on all the time? Or is there some other, better way to hook them up?

I'm not going to hook up the 3 little corner marker lights, so I'll just snip off the wires to those and not worry about it.

Any help you can give me is mucho appreciated.

^ The ones I had came with everything I needed. Basically plug and play. For the Halo's and what not, I wired mine in to the corner lights so I could turn em on with the park lights and only the Halo's/Park lights would be on but not the headlight's themselves.

1) yes, it uses the the stock 9005 high beam bulb. You might have to fiddle a bit to get it to fit snug. If they're the same kit, there are 3 screws that support the bulb's base. Adjust these as needed to get the bulb to fit tight.

2)I have my halos spliced in to my fog light wiring; they only turn on when the fogs are turned on with the stock switch
