Painted Aluminum Block?

Painted Aluminum Block?
Hey guys, I am at the point in my project of getting ready to drop in a 6.0 liter aluminum block into my 2000 T/A and was wondering about painting the block only which I realize is totally sacreligious.
I know, I know, you ask why does this fool want to paint a perfect looking aluminum block? Well, I was thinking about going "old school looking" with this conversion and paint the block the old Pontiac metallic blue that the factory used to paint the engines in GTO's and such back in the 60's early 70's. With this theme I have other ideas.
Has anyone painted their aluminum block and what prep was used? I was going to use a zinc or epoxy based primer then the final paint. The last thing I want is for the paint to peel.
Thanks

anyway, we just used duplicolor engine enamel; however idk if they make that in the metallic baby blue
