Default A Pillar Defrost Vent Tube-HELP!

Hey guys! wasnt quite sure where I should post this, sorry in advance!

Question: I'm installing gauges (not a shiftlight), so I took off my stock A Pillar and I'm not sure if I broke this tube or not??? it's just sitting there not attached to anything, I see that theres a bracket you can slide it on to but it would be to low than when the pillar goes back on. Is it suppose to be loose? or attached firmly to a plastic tab?

your help would be greatly appreciated!

pictures of what I'm talking about:

this picture is hard to see I know, but theres a slider piece attached to it

I'm thinking mine was loose too. Everything works good though, so I don't worry too much about it.

That's normal. It may have a bit of a flex-ducting type thing going on too so I think you should be able to move it a little bit to line it up with the hole. I could be wrong, since it's been a while since I tried messing with it on my car.

IIRC it has a tab that it slides into but I want to say it is on the backside where it hooks up to all the ducting with the dash vents. If it's loose it really shouldn't rattle or anything if thats your concern. The piece behind the dash it slides onto it goes on snuggly, so unless you tugged on it trying to get it off you should have no issues.

LOL!!>....i was wondering the same thing about that tube when i took my A-pillar off to run my hard wire for the radar detector. It was just sitting there but when i put the a-pillar back on everything was snug so dont worry about it.

I've tried sliding it on to that tab and reinstalling the a -pillar and the tube wont line up with the defrost vent on the pillar, looks like hell and bugs me lol, thats why part of me thinks it was attached to the upper part of that tab and it broke when I took off the pillar :S? but if you guys say it's suppose to be loose and not attached to anything HELL EVEN BETTER lol , yes my main concern was rattles I wonder if it attatches to the back of the defrost vent on the pillar?? or does it just rest against it? seems to me if I were driving and hit a bump it wont line up very well if it's not attached to anything.

if you notice....once you put the a-pillar back on..it will bump up against the vent hole and stay put....atleast mine did.

it does come to the vent hole-half way though you can literally see the edge of the tube sitting half way, if you look at the vent
