Default WOW tinting T top quote

Got a quote of $20 to remove the old and $85 to tint the two tops. Too much?? What did everyone pay?

Was that with them on the car or off? On-car, that seems pretty fair. You can save some money and remove the old tint yourself

I paid $50 to have my t-tops tinted. $85 seems bit much IMO.

VinR1, why would they tint the t-tops while its on the car? That would be making a very easy job difficult.

I can pull the old tint off in like 2 min. Cleaning the glass is easy.

This. Buy some tint and spend 30 mins doing it yourself, just make sure to let it dry before sliding em back into place. After I tinted mine I put them back on the car not thinking and the sides wrinkled up, but if it really bothered me I could just remove it and do it again but no one ever looks at them anyway.

Took me 30 minutes to take old tint off my back window. Hose it down in Windex with ammonia....that's why they tell you to not clean aftermarket tinted windows with ammonia. It peels right off. You can atleast save $20.

I figured the only way they'd quote $85 is if they were still on... Should be a little cheaper off

The better tint shop here charges $30 per window/ttop with lifetime warranty...a little more if they do mobile service

85 bucks seems like a lot. I had my entire car done for 110.

do it yourself. Go to walmart and get some 2.5% tint. I had never tinted before, and there was enough for me to mess up a few times and still get it pretty good. Follow this:

What your not understanding is that its 20$ to remove because your not putting anything back there. When you get to tinting it needs to be cleaned and prepped properly so bad work does not come back to them.

I do not assume they post shop rate per hour figures but I wager its in the 50-60 range easy.

Also to keep in mind these jobs and side windows are gravey, a one piece hatch is a major PITA and probably do not charge enough for the job so you have to make it up somewhere.

Lastly, if you can do it yourself then by all means. My brother did this for years and it was worthwhile since the cops busted his *** every other week, he got to be an expert at doing this. They always made home slash the tint when he got pulled over since it was illegal rated tint.

Yep. I decided to do it myself. Found 10' 5% limo off ebay for $12. Plus the glass is pretty flat and straight forward piece to cut and sqweegee.

5% tint is quite dark...is that correct? I think I have about 20% on mine now that I can see through.

To shape the tint, place your t-top on the ground and lay your pre-cut piece of tint on top. Use a heatgun to shrink the tint to the shape SLOWLY and be careful.

Will this mod reduce the heat a bit if you drive around without the interior panels in place? Obviously it wont reduce the heat 100% but i was just curious if the heat can be somewhat bareable when the interior panels are not in the t-tops. I like the look of the somewhat all glass roof.
