I've always liked the shift boot, if you will, that they use in exotic cars. I was wondering if there is a company out there that makes something similar for our cars.

Thought of that too, always loved the gated shifter look. Only thing with our cars is that our shift handles are so thick. I tried doing a little mock one to see if I could make it work and the handle was so thick there was basically no "gates" for the shifter. Could probably make it work if someone makes a thin shift handle though..

there is very little aftermarket support for our interiors sadly, in comparison to a lot of other cars. I have a chrome hurst stick that's nice and narrow and I thought about trying to make a cardboard one just to see, but really since the t56 is internally gated there's not much point
not to mention you would have to make a different one for every shifter out there, and a stock transmission mount allows way to much flex for that type of thing. mine may be a bit worn but it gives a good amount of side to side movement in addition to the close side to side location of the gears. I know a poly trans mount will take care of that but I don't like the idea of stock motor mounts allowing the motor to move and the trans mount trying to keep the transmission still and putting stress on the bellhousing. sooo basically it's a lot of work just for looks.

I don't really race, so I'm not too concerned about shifting faster. I agree, the stainless might look odd in our cars (especially since I have ebony guts). Maybe if it was powder coated black?
