The eraser itself will not cause any damage to a hardened clear coat, such as used on most modern day vehicles. The damage that comes from eraser wheels is when it is used on one area for too long and just like a buffer it will burn though. The eraser wheel takes off decals and pin stripes and the spinning action disposes of the sticker.

I would just wash off the residue and give the area a good hand polish if you use an eraser.

Haha. It makes me laugh that somewhere in the world someone is actually pissed that he used an eraser on his car. Who gives a flying f**k. Not that big of a deal.

Not really pissed, but just kinda worried that he's going around telling people to use an eraser on most things that a normal-maintenance polish+wax will take care of, and not adding the fact that it should be polished/waxed after the eraser is used.

Read the last line in my first post, it says "try", im not forcing you to use an eraser. And the point of the eraser was that it is a household item you can use rather then spending some money.

You're still gonna have to spend money for polish and wax after the eraser, unless you can find a household product that doubles as a good paint polish, and another one to substitute a good car wax...

Sorry, I'm just REALLY picky about keeping my cars paint in good shape. Never leave it unwaxed for a long period of time. The cars factory paint was done in mid-end of 1998, and aside from the normal rock chips, it looks like it could have rolled off the assembly line a few months ago.
