Default Glasstek SS Hood

I just received one and it has a lip all the way around it! We are not sure what to do with it! Tried to call Glasstek today, but they were closed! Anyone ever bought one of their hoods. Are all of them like that. My body shop says they have never seen one so they are not sure either. It looks like we need to cut it off, but i don't want to mess it up.

Any ideas?????

Are you talking about the lip that sticks downward all the way around the hood at the edge? If so, trim it down to 1/4" all the way around. My 4" hood was the same way. I got a roll of 1/4" pinstriping tape, put it all around the lip on the top part, then cut everything that stuckout off with a dremel, took all of about 15 minutes.

Yes, Thanks for your input.

It doesn't interfere with the head lights?? The factory hood is flush! We thought about taking it all the way down flush with edge!

How do you like the Glasstek hood? Just bought one today and was hoping it is as good as it was pictured. Did you have any problems?

The only problem I see with it is the lip around the edge! I am going to call Glasstek today and see if cutting it flush like the factory hood will weaken the it!?!

I just got off the phone with Glasstek! They said you have to cut the lip off flush. They put it on there for protection during shipping, to help keep the edge from chipping.

I thought so, but I wanted to make sure!

I had a Harwood hood on a Camaro I once owned that came the same way. I had to trim the lip down, but also had to be careful not to cut through where they had bonded the two parts (topside & underside of hood) together with glue.

It's normal, just needs to be trimed. They do it to protect the hood during shipping
