Default Removing tint from taillights?

When we bought this car, the tail lights were already tinted. I don't know what the previous owner used to tint them, but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience removing spray on tint. If so how did they turn out, and what process did you use?

Nail polish remover/acetone would probably work too.

No matter what you do, you'll probably end up having to wet-sand & polish them to bring back the shine.
Why not buy a used set off Ebay or the salvage yards & then sell these to recover some funds?
Or offer them up as a trade to someone who wants tinted taillights?!?

I had them up for trade for a while with no luck.

Brake clean did the job. I hit them with Plastic X afterwards and they came out pretty good. I may wet sand them and really polish them up next weekend, but for now they are fine.

Acetone will melt the plastic lens, not a good choice.

I just wet sanded mine and hit them with some Plasti-X and haven't had a problem with em since. I went as far as taking off the DOT numbers and all of the raised numbers and letters on them so they would be completely smooth.

I always notice this subtile mod. Really makes things look cleaner.

Main reason why I did it. I wanted my tails to be completely smooth.
