Window Tint

35% and I'm very happy with it. It looks two shades darker at night and from the back......I would've loved 20%, but this is legal and the install shop offered a lifetime warranty if it was legal. My father in law has 20% on his truck and he backs into stuff all the time. There's a noticeable difference driving, especially at night. 20% looks better, but it's harder to deal with from driving and getting hassled by the cops. They're really starting to crack down on dark windows around here. The inspection place hasn't checked mine for 5 years started this year checking and charging for both mine.
It's all personal preference.
I do think the 20% looks better because in the bright sun they looked smoked. With 4% you could see the plastic in the film and it looked more like a vinyl sticker.
Lastly, my driver window was rattling last year when my tint was off so I adjusted the two felt buffers on the door that the window slides against. A week after my new tint one of the felt buffers ripped my tint so be aware of any rub marks when you first roll the windows down as eventual the tint will tear.
Here's an overcast pic, the quality isn't as good, but you can tell a difference.

Don't forget, there are also different types of tint as well; dyed, metallic, carbon, ceramic, ect. So depending on what your goal is, it may not pay to get the good stuff on the doors.
35 is legal just about everywhere.
at one point i googled what was legal, but was very disappointed and have
decided i will not allow a state to choose how the car i bought looks

35% sides/5% rear now but still isn't enough for my liking, you can still see the steering wheel and interior
....
i once got pulled at my school in my old geo, b/c they thought the tint on the car was too dark.
....it was a blue 35% came with the POS, you could see through the car across the school. the cop was just trying to be an ***.
