1999 Z28 Build and Appearance , Pewter and Black Look! Dyno results in !
I am going for the pewter and black look. Should of bought stock in black paint , LOL
As for the motor, I had some oiling problems with my motor, took out the cam and lifters. The car also had 16" chrome z28 rims with bald tires, stock springs and shocks and hardly any character.
Just thought I would share my progress and post as I put it all together. All parts are on the way except the injectors. Motor and heads should be here in 3 wks hopefully.
Just dropped the tank today for the fueling upgrades.
The following is being done to the motor
- New .020 pistons
- All new bearings
- ARP rod bolts
- AI 219 HCR head porting to my 853's
- Ai 230° / 238° 113° LSA .600"/.600" Cam
- Melling oil pump
- LS7 lifters and trays
Fuel:
- Walbro 255 fuel pump and hot wire kit
- Injectors for motor, not sized yet
Tranny:
- New slave, TO bearing
- New monster level 3 clutch kit
Suspension
- New Koni Sport shocks
- BMR lowering springs
- New Strut Mounts
Wheels/Tires
- OE Wheels 17x9.5 and 17x11 black ZR1
- Sumitomo HTR Z tires

I will post more this week. My pump comes in Monday, Wheels Wednesday. I tell ya that lift makes everything so easy to work on, well worth the money.
Maybe someone can chime in about my shocks. Does everyone put them on the lower setting on the front shocks? There is a clip on the shaft and it has a lower position which will lower the car and make the spring looser. After I got the springs on the back I also thought if I should have done the heater hose mod? I have the BMR and hopefully this will be low enough.

Coming along nicely! Can I ask what your reasoning was for swapping out the streetsweeper cam? I remember following one of your other threads about the time I installed mine (smaller torque version).

I had a problem with my oil pump, the pressure relief stuck wide open causing an oil pressure to drop. I replaced the pump and drove for about 1000 miles and kept finding metal in the filter. I took it apart and the lobes were flat and lifters shot.

I recieved my tires today. The rears are 17x11 so I had to remove the bump stops. I could have ground them down but I looked around and some people removed them with no problems.
The quality of these wheels is great, also, I have never seen a 17x11 in person, its huuuuuuge !

So my shortblock should be done this week, heads and cam will be here tomorrow, lifters are sitting in oil. I should have it running this weekend if all goes well. I will post pictures when I get all the part here. Dyno tune is April 6th at New Era Performance.

Thanks ! Ive always wanted to do so much to the car, I finally have a big garage and bought a lift, and have time to do it. The rims look so much better than the 16 stockers.

So this is what I got done tonite, started with the shortblock. Only had one glitch so far, one of the timing cover holes is filled with crap, need to get a tap to chase it tomorrow.
Tomorrow I will put it in the k member, then cut the block to fit the ls6 valley cover, throw the lifters in, trays and mount the heads, then the valley cover.
