So you guys didn't need to use fishing line? I honestly don't like the idea of using that and thought about just pulling the things off with the help of the hair dryer.

You're over-thinking this

I did this a few weeks ago to my '02:

I just used my wife's hairdryer and pulled. That's it. The leftover adhesive I just peeled off by kind of "rubbing it" over itself (kind of like "rolling" it up). The get any other funk off, I just used a clay bar.

Doing mine tonight.

Simplejack, I agree with some others that you're over-thinking it. You'd have to be a real idiot to screw it up.

Yeah, I guess not knowing what they used would be kind of scarry. Good luck. I'm sure it will turn out fine.

The factory tape has a bit of elasticity to it and you can peel it off. The 3m tape does not stretch or peel.

I used WD-40 and fish line on a warm day. Can't even tell the molding was there. Just spray WD-40 on the molding where the glue is as best as you can then slowly run fish line down it. Should peel right off. Then just use WD-40 for the rest of the glue that could possibly be left on your car.
