I just did mine and it took about 16 hours total but look outstanding. Good luck.

i'm gonna try the clear coat thing... #1 reason is i'm lazy/ADD, and cannot imagine spending 16 hrs on this. i'm also thinking it will add a layer of protection, and the results might last longer. (seems like they're only staying clear for a couple yrs?)
i was looking at clear coats yesterday, but they didn't have any that were specific for plastic. what should i be looking for? lacquer? there was a glossy plastic primer, which didn't make sense to me...
also any recommendations on how much sanding before spraying? obviously it wouldn't be as much as the polishing method.

I spent a lot of hours with 500, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, and 2000 grit and after that I used NOVUS. But my lamps are still not as new as I wanted. The lamps had a mild haze before sanding. Any ideas?

Can you post some close-up pictures?

Here is a good link to a Mustang site with a similar process, but different products:

I will also add this link to the first post in this thread.

Here is a picture of mine installed. Like others have said they are not 100% perfect and you can notice it when you are very close. I think maybe going to higher grits might help. I've seen plastic window kits that come with 3000, 4000, 8000 grit paper and maybe I could get them perfect by using those grits but I'm happy with mine overall. I think the Whistler mod I also did makes the lens look darker as well.

I work for a automotive chemical company (Oils, piolishes waxes...). I just sat through a headlight restoration demo. We might start manufacturing their products or repackaging their existing products. Anyway this "3 step" process was much faster than what I've been doing and ends with a sealer that gaurantees reisisting of yellowing for 24 months. UNfortunatley there were only Hondas and Fords in the parking lot. They asked me to bring in a set of Camaro headlights tomorrow.
WHen I get more info on this product, I'll pass it on!

I pulled my lights out last night, and sanded them for about an hour total while watching the crappy Survivor finale, and sprayed a coat of rattlecan gloss lacquer. They need another coat, but they're looking pretty good so far. Will post results when done.

well, the sanding / lacquer thing looks great so far. hopefully it won't turn yellow and flake in a couple months of TX sun. i have no pics, but it looks pretty much perfect from more than about 10' away. i spent a total of about 2 hrs on it, and i'm happy with the results for the amount of work.

The Hall of Fame is one sticky thread in the Appearance forum that references several different threads. Having only one thread stuck prevents the sticky section from becoming cluttered with too many threads.
