Default shift pattern delete

Has anyone removed the factory shift pattern that's stamped on the upper console plate? I've been thinking of doing this because i think it looks much nicer to have the pattern on the shift **** rather than stamped on the console. And I don't like the redundant pattern hence taking it off the console. I can't think of any other car that has it stamped on the console but gm has always and still does this just on camaros/firebirds.

The new Manual shift Camaros also have this on the console.
I can make you a plate to cover it if you can supply me with some dimensions.

You could even place something new on the plate if you wanted.

What would you suggest covering it with. I was thinking of this but didn't know what would look good or make sense. I have just always wondered why gm did this ONLY on camaros. I like the classic hurst shift ***** with the pattern but can't stand the redundancy of it.

Which shift pattern design do you have? The small rectangular one or the longer triangular shaped one?

The small rectangle one. 97-up console.

Isn't it just printed on the console? You should be able to just remove it with paint thinner or something. I sem painted my console, and its not there anymore, you can't even tell it was either.

I wasn't sure if it was glued to the console or molded into it. I'll have to look at that. It's just one of those pet peeve things.

My only reason for not using paint thinner is if I ever decided to put it back to stock it would be a little too late and those shifter plates are not cheap!!
