Default Easy way to clean Headlights for $3

I cant take credit for this, I saw that someone posted recently that easy off worked oven cleaner worked great for taking off built up crap on headlights.
I recently got an extra pair for headlights super cheap $40 so I gave it a shot and it works great. In fact the more times I apply of let sit longer the better they come off.
*keep in mind I did this with lights off so if your doing with them on please mask heavily.

Now I just need to seal them from further corrosion any ideas?

I will post pics ASAP

Oven Cleaner is harsh stuff. Hopefully it didn't react with the plastic and lead to worse problems later.

I've also heard of people using toothpaste to clean the hazed lens.

That stuff will suck the breath right out of you. It's cheap, I'll give you that, but for only $10 I'll take my 3M kit that I know for sure doesn't damage light.

I used the oderless easy off oven spray and I had an extra set of headlights that were pretty ruff so I experimented. The oven cleaned is harse but I let sit for more and more time on the lights and the better it got.

Now this will take off the hard stuff, then I bought a lens restoring kit from turtle wax $9.99 at the autozone and I cant believe how good they look. I will do my best to most many pictures I am new to this site

I am having a hard time uploading pictures, do I attach them or whats the url thing mean?

I used to use a little rubbing compound once a month on my wife's 1995 Toyota Camry lights and they stayed clear, that was even before headlight restorer! Old School!

You don't even need to spend $3... Just get some left over engine oil and wipe it on the headlights. Not even kidding.

Oil penetrates does it not. Reason we can't use some oils in our metal shop is because they are penetrating oils that would ruin things.
