Worn carpet under pedals allowing heat from headers
I wore through my driver side floor mat, and then through the carpet. I can feel the heat from the header collector area radiate through the metal, through my shoe and into my heel. It's had headers around 14 years and has almost always been my daily driver since new, going on 163K miles. The seam from the bottom of the floorboard is showing some rust.
What's the proper way to repair all of this to keep the heat out and repair the carpet?
I see someone is selling '99 Pontiac gray F-body carpet, how close is that to the '98 Chevy gray F-body carpet?

Pull your carpet & knock the rust out quick or you'll be dealing with this.
The floor pans on these cars are paper thin & takes rust no time to eat them away.. I just bought a welder, spot weld drill & some metal.. I'll post a repair thread once I'm done. The 99 cars had graphite, a lil darker than the 98's, but looks better imo.

Can't comment on the rust/heat, but I do have the same issue with the carpet.
I have a hole in the carpet there from the previous owner. I was googling one day and they have stick-on heelpads. I was thinking of putting that down to cover the carpet hole, and then getting some good new floor mats.
