Default Orbital Buffer

What would be a good recommendation for a buffer? Just looking for something that will last and get the job done for polishing and waxing.

Griots garage third generation. Good warranty and solid price.

Harbor Freight dual action. $50 and it's just re-branded piece other people are using. I know people who had them for a year + with no issues. Just don't use the backing plate that comes with it.

Yeah I'm willing to spend around 150 on something decent.

Yeah the Rupes is a little bit of a jump in price, best money I've spent so far doing paint correction. IMO I doubt we will see a machine that comes close to beating it for a long time.

Had my porter cable 7424XP for several years now with 0 issues. Great piece.

The flex is awesome but it's really a step up in price. I recommend the PC.

After reading page after page and seeing pictures/reviews on the HF DA... I'm just waiting for it to show up on my door step!

Did you buy a different backplate? If so, which one? Is the backplate really that bad? I'm about to pick one up and order some 4gen orange and white foam pads from Adam's.

Personally, I'd go with the Griots for the extra power vs. the PC7424XP. I have the PC, and nothing against it, but it simply isn't on par with the Griots unit IMO.

^ This one should suit you well. Just grab some 5.5" pads (I'd suggest the Lake Country Hydro Tech 7/8" thick pads) and also grab some Microfiber cutting pads.

Polishing/waxing is not high speed buffing. For polish/waxing go for the HF orbital buffer around 20 bucks. For high speed type buffing, spend the most that you can on a good one. If your paint is in bad shape you will need the high speed. If good shape, buy the 20 dollar deal. Polish then wax.

Me too man. It's supposed to arrive this Friday. Already got all my Adams products (Adam's 2 stage paint correction polishes, Adam's Glaze and Adam's Americana Wax). Can't wait to drive head-first into this thing. Good luck with your too.

What he (Rare96LT1Formula) means (hence the picture) is the Harbor Freight DA Polisher has the exact same specs as the Porter Cable, which has been a "go to" DA for paint correction. To say the Harbor Freight DA is only good for applying wax is way off and not good advice whatsoever. The Harbor Freight DA Polisher is to be used to apply compound/polish to remove swirl marks, marring and minor scratches. You can also use the Harbor Freight DA Polisher to apply sealants, waxes and glazes, but it's main job is to aide in paint correction.

If you want to help him, steer him away from the Orbital Polisher and suggest that he get a DA Polisher, as it appears he's never done any paint correcting before.
