Harbor Freight dual action. $50 and it's just re-branded piece other people are using. I know people who had them for a year + with no issues. Just don't use the backing plate that comes with it.

Personally, I'd go with the Griots for the extra power vs. the PC7424XP. I have the PC, and nothing against it, but it simply isn't on par with the Griots unit IMO.

^ This one should suit you well. Just grab some 5.5" pads (I'd suggest the Lake Country Hydro Tech 7/8" thick pads) and also grab some Microfiber cutting pads.

Polishing/waxing is not high speed buffing. For polish/waxing go for the HF orbital buffer around 20 bucks. For high speed type buffing, spend the most that you can on a good one. If your paint is in bad shape you will need the high speed. If good shape, buy the 20 dollar deal. Polish then wax.

If you want to help him, steer him away from the Orbital Polisher and suggest that he get a DA Polisher, as it appears he's never done any paint correcting before.
