Default Glasstek 4" cowl

Picked one up today for my 02 SS. The fit is pretty damn good. Only issue was the seller kept the hardware, which he was not aware that it was standard and the OE is metric. Had to dig for some new bolts, but alas, the bolt box prevailed.

It sure is what I would call "me". I used to have a 4" on my 89 RS and now I don't look like every other SS on the road. I don't mind the hood being black either. May paint the rest spoiler and hatch black as well as the mirrors.

I would pull the SS badges off but they are drilled and bolted to the cowl.

Thanks man. I'm 6"2 so seeing over the cowl is not a issue. Feels so normal as my 89 RS was a thing for me and this is really feeling like its replacement.

Think I may pull the badges and sand blast them, paint them graphite like I did the wheels.

Lol im 6' and my head damn near hits the roof already. Any chance you can get a pic from drivers point of view. I have been contemplating a cowl hood for quite a while but most likely 2". Regardless it would be a good comparison to see what the 4" is like from the inside.

I always had a hard on for SS's with old school cowls, LOVE IT!

Regardless of holes I'd still get those SS badges off immediately lol. Just cover them with another emblem (346, etc...)

Honestly it just hit me, make them less visible. Pretty sure I'm going to gloss black the emblems.

Ehhhhh.... I wouldn't even call that "better" just "less horrible" lol. For me it's just the idea of seeing this...

SS on top of SS. Just kind of "Pep Boys" to me... I'd do 346 emblems...

Even just the cheap number emblems from ebay put together to make "346" like I did would look better (ignore the silver outline on the stripes, seemed like a good idea at the time lol, went away)...

Just don't have a sure fire way to know that the holes drilled for the SS emblems will be covered. That's my main concern. Has 2 holes for each letter.

Ouch. Satin black vinyl side stripe with emblems? Or just make a little plate with studs matching the SS emblems' studs to stick whatever emblems you want onto (shape the plate to the emblems of course) then it will be just like the SS but a custom emblem.

That's allot of work when I need to focus on the 8.8 install, headers, Y pipe, custom TQ arm mount, lol. Maybe one day I'll regroup for that.

Awesome! Same hood I had on my 96'. For the emblems on my car I was doing an old 70' theme and decided to do these on the side of the cowl where your SS is...

I'm really thinking about the options. I've got all the time in the world. Car went 9.0 at 82 mph in the 1/8 on the 315 radials. After the 4.30 8.8 rear swap and slicks with a TQ arm I'll go back snd see what it can do. Then I'll think about how to deal with the badges on the hood lol
