Default Firebird LED Fog Light Housings

Morimoto Ford F150 LED Fog Light Housings installed on a 2001 Firebird Formula with custom brackets. I made the brackets with leftover aluminum flat stock and metal corner brackets. The adjustment bracket is attached to the main mounting bracket with one small bolt and JB Weld. I had to file down the head of the bolt for an easier/better fit in the stock fog light bucket.

That last pic is just the fog lights. The rotation is a little off and I need to aim them up a bit more but overall, its much better than the previous aftermarket set I had in there.

I painted the brackets black before installing them on the car. They are installed in the stock location using the stock slots with stainless steel bolts and washers through the slots in the brackets.

I retained up/down adjustability but had to drill a hole in the bottom of the stock fog light bucket in the bumper towards the back to fit a screwdriver through to reach the adjustment screw in the bracket. The hole is hidden behind the fog light so you can't see it. It is accessible through the access flap under the bumper (which you have to open to reach the fog lights anyway.

It's all plug and play as far as wiring. I used 880 connector on the Fog Light. The Ford F150 doesn't use a 880 bulb but the already-mounted pins fit into the housing of a 880 connector. The stock sockets on the car were corroded so I replaced them with new 880 sockets. Then the fog lights just plugged in like stock. Since I used 880 connectors all around, this is a mostly reversible mod. No wiring change and no mounting change. The only non-reversible part are the adjustment holes I had to drill into the bumper, but they are hidden behind the fog lights so you can't see them.

These are the fog lights:

I bought them on sale for under $140, but the price has gone up (beyond the sale) to $170. It is still a decent price, but this weekend for Memorial Day, they are having a 15% Off Sale.

[EDIT]
Looks like that link is broken, but I think this is the updated link or possbily a newer version of them:

I don't have a day pic yet, but here is a pic from The Retrofit Source's website:

[EDIT]----- Added Pics ----- [/EDIT]

Here is what it looks like from the front during the day. The car is covered in pollen. The turn signals are next to get replaced. I'm looking at custom options for there as well.

These are best pics I could get from the back to show how they are mounted. The first pic shows the two bolts that attach the bracket to the bumper. The second pic shows the adjustment hole I cut into the bucket to allow for a short screwdriver to reach the vertical adjustment screw on the bracket. The two bolts in the stock slots in the bumper allow for some rotational adjustment. The rotation is slightly off right now.

Nice job. I think Blackbird Lighting is coming out with something very similar. How do they look from the front?

Mounts the same way as the stock fog lights, using the same slots in the bumper. Just 2 bolts instead of 3. If I can get a pic up in there I'll post it. It will look familiar to anyone that has seen how the stock fogs are bolted in.

I didn't realize he was working on something (or I forgot). I'll get a day pic to post.

Nice work! We are working on a setup using those fog lights for TAs to start, Formula/Firebirds to come later. The bracket for the TA's is considerably more complicated but we are hopeful to put together a simple, bolt-in design.

Nice to see the output shots.

I'm in for a set for my Formula. If the Formula/V6 bracket is easier, maybe start there and I'll get a set installed ASAP? Planning to order the Bi-Xenon HID in the next few weeks.

Let us know when you are ready. If someone has a factory bracket laying around, we could use this to get a bracket made.

Thanks. I'm not sure what to do about the turn signals yet. I'm exploring options. I'd like something LED there as well, but custom if possible and not just a drop-in bulb.

I got a set of V3 triton LED front turn signal bulb system from V-LEDS and theyre awesome. I also got some Plazma LED bulbs for the taillights from CarID on eBay, love them too, but since I have LEDs front and rear, I had to get a totally electronic LED flashers for my car. here is a video of parking lights on and turn signal (front and rear) I also got new front turn signal housings since the old ones were pretty much useless because of the heat from the incandescent bulbs being on all the time

blue09rocket, My stock turn signal housings aren't in great shape so I need new ones.

blackbyrd, I didn't see anything like that in the automotive section. Are you talking about a Truck/Trailer LED turn signal? Those all seem to be 4" or larger which is too large for the Firebird/Furmula turn signals which are 3.5".

I wonder if these Smoked LED housings for a 2007 Jeep JK could be made to fit? From what I've been able to see, they may be a little smaller than our turn signals but may be close enough. Anyone have a JK and can measure?

I replaced my housings with the amber colored ones from the 00-02 Sunfire, they're straight swaps. bought new ones off amazon, they've actually updated the listing to say they are for the Firebird.

Thanks. I wonder if there is a smoked or LED version (whole housing, not just drop-in bulb).

didn't see anything on ebay, just the typical led bulbs, you could always tint or otherwise smoke the housings before install, you just really need to get on it now with those nice new lights showing just how nasty those old ones have gotten.
