Default anything before sound deadener install?

finally got my whole interior out, including the carpet. (did anyone else have trouble getting the center console out? took all the screws out and felt like I was going to break it, even had the e brake up as high as it would go.) Anyway, after 15 years I was pleasantly shocked when I saw the condition of the floorboards, no rust at all (although I do have some surface rust on the underbody which I will be addressing after I'm done with this) is there anything I can put on so rust wont appear on the interior floorboards or should I just leave it be? also there is a few plastic things I haven't removed yet, not sure how, 1 is surrounding the shifter assembly, and the other is around the gas and brake pedals. ill get some pics of that when I get up (I work nights ) thanks

I wouldn't worry about rust if its clean after 15 years like mine was also, it will remain so. It was a ton of work lining it all but worth it, a lot quieter inside now, hardly ever any rattles and stuff, and road noise very low compared to before. I did under headliner as well, that was a HUGE pain in the *** lol.

yup center console is a bitch to get out because of the e-brake handle, been there done that. Just make sure surface is CLEAN of anything before laying down the deadener for best adhesion.

What he said, make sure its clean for proper adhesion. Let the car sit out in the sun also. It'll be hot as ***** doing the work, but the butyl backed deadner will stick better. Also, not every sq inch needs to be covered, just the main areas that can transmit sound.

yup, thats the other half I forgot to mention, HEAT is your friend, COLD is your enemy, if you have a heat gun you can use it on low to warm up the deadener just before application.

Alright I take that back, I do have some rust and would like to address it before I continue, they appear to be in same spot on both sides of the car, directly behind where the front seats mount, passenger side(2nd pic) is a little worse than drivers side(1st pic and 3rd pic is underneath car drivers side at same spot), any opinions or thoughts on how to proceed would be most appreciated, thanks
