Default Trunk Lights - Round 2

I had previously installed CCFL tubes on the sides of the trunk to add some light, but one broke and I decided to replace them with LED strips and move where they were mounted.

Previous Setup:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...ights-box.html

New Lights:
Tapped into the Dome Light and held in place with 3M Trim Mounting Tape.
(all pics are without flash except for the one that says it has flash)
Mounted in recess in hatch for the trunk flap.

It is not dark out in these pics, its just starting to get dark.

Full view of the trunk and hatch area.

Holding flap up and looking into the trunk.

Looking up where the lights are mounted.

Not bad.
How do you keep your tool bag from sliding around/falling from the left cubby area?
I could never keep anything in that without it flying around with every turn.

The toolbag is wedged in there and has velcro on the bottom.

Great idea. It isn't super visible but it would probably look a lot cleaner if you could possibly recess the light strip into the panel. Maybe cut the strip of the plastic out, and put the lights behind where the cut is. More stealthy I guess.

nice setup, curious though does it block the light any when you lean over into the trunk to get something?

Technically yes. However, I was thinking of adding another small dome light under the lock in the trunk well (similar to how some 3rd-gens had it).

Looks good! I'm not sure I would want to do that to my interior panels, especially since mine is not a daily and I don't really drive it all that much. If you're looking for a factory style setup, a friend of mine, upon seeing the trunk light in my old 97 convertible, went and got a trunk light lens housing, bulb, and wiring off of a convertible and put that in his coupe. It was pretty helpful and looked factory.

No, this was back in 2001. Over the years I thought about doing it to my F-Bodies, but I was never really that bothered by the lighting in them to go ahead and get it done.

Any pics of the convertible trunk light you're talking about? I'm having a hard time finding any pics of them in general.

Not from my old one, but I found this one on eBay. Mine was exactly like it.
