Default My engine bay is almost up to my standard.

Over the winter I had lots of mechanical things to do. So thought I would clean things up a little. Getting sick of polishing bare aluminum parts so I went for some powder coating.

Did the intake trumpets and plenum Y pipe in an Ebony chrome, (gun metal with black flecks) Some silver cf hydro dipped over black base with a candy red over it. Give black shadows on the red cf. Also some red candy powder coat over my chrome Yofab over flow cap, and the same over my polished SS fuse covers. White powder coat over the Ram Air cover plate and the head light brackets.

These are my old fiber glass plenums, and I have real Carbon Fiber ones almost done. They will be the jewels on this set up.

Before, which was not bad:

Now with most up the updates and old plenums:

The exterior and interior are almost done too. I will show them off when the splitter is back on.

Any up close pics of the ebony chrome powder coat? Sounds like an interesting combination!

My wheels were done with it too.

My winter wheels, I tried it on first. I like how the pockets are darker due to the different face angle.

Thanks. The clear lid is gone though. The new look, is the powder coat and red carbon fiber.

You can not see it in the picture, but the clear lid needed to be cut up to fit, and eventually broke due to that cutting. I have since cut up and re fabricated the aluminum y pipe to require no cutting on the 104mm lid.

It did look good with the polished bare aluminum, but was a nightmare to live with. I had to disassemble the intake to polish the trumpets and y pipe. The aluminum would oxidize so easy with any light cleaners. Now with powder coat it should be a lot easier to look after and keep looking good.

It's an awesome setup makes the motor look a bit more exotic

Also like the old school Pontiac label in the airbox

It's pretty, but I couldn't do that here. No A/C in Texas? No way.

The AC would be easy to put back. My issue is keeping the motor cool for 20 minutes on track. I have made all sheet metal to seal the rad to the front of the car to ensure no cooling air would bleed by through the gaps. With the AC mounted I could not seal it up.

So no AC it is for a track rat.
