Default Recommend a cleaner & protectant for black interior plastic

Black interior plastic 2001 Camaro Z28. Looking for a good cleaner & protectant that will give a natural (not high gloss) finish that doesn't leave streaks or uneven areas. Im pretty picky, 99.9% of people would consider my cars too clean... and the protectants I have used do a pretty good job (meguiars natural shine protectant)....but I think there may be better out there. What do you use that has worked best????

I recommend Aerospace 303 protectant - great protection and perfect satin sheen. As far as a cleaner goes, Meguiar's D10101 all-purpose cleaner is often recommended although I haven't had a chance to try it out personally.

Another recommendation for 303 Aerospace; great stuff, healthy satin glow with zero ghetto shine. Terrific product.

For basic cleaning I like Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer (assuming it's just minor dust and such.) For serious interior cleaning, I like Simple Green on most hard surfaces.

Simple Green for the interior? Wouldn't that be too aggressive for plastics and come with a smell?

Depends on the surface. I wouldn't use it on something sensitive like the gauge cluster or other displays, or anything custom painted or leather, but for standard color-molded hard pieces it works great. In fact, I used this to restore the entire interior on my '71 (door panels, dash top, vinyl seats, etc.); ~40 years of grime was dissolved and the original black color underneath suffered no damage at all (looked blacker than ever.)

As for the smell, that does linger for a bit. Took about 3-4 months for it to go away completely after doing the whole interior, but that's because this car is mostly sealed up in a garage. If you were driving it regularly and allowed fresh air in, it should clear up much more quickly. Also, you can dilute the product to reduce the smell and mitigate any potential harm to surfaces that you feel might be more sensitive.

I'll toss CarPro Perl into the mix. Adjust the dilution ratio for interior. Can be used to dress trim and tires as well. Looks like 303 on the interior.

GTechniq C6 Matte Dash is also nice. Won't alter the appearance of the interior to cause any reflections of the front glass.

One thing to remember is to clean the surface prior to applying any protectant.

Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer works good for lightly soiled interiors. Meguiar's #39 works well for those heavier soiled interiors or to deep clean every now and then. QID will leave a little UV protection behind while not altering the appearance of the interior. Can be used weekly to wipe down the interior.

I use adams products for the interior. They have a leather and interior cleaner, which is pretty tough so it can remove stains easily, and they also have an interior detailer that can be used for light cleaning and dusting. But my favorite is their leather conditioner. It can also be used on plastics and vinyl, and it works great. It leaves a nice shine which isnt too shiny, and it repels dust like nothing ive seen before. I use it on my cars interiors, my leather boots, and our sofa.

I was at Home Depot earlier today and saw Simple Green in gallon jugs in original, lemon scent, and fresh scent. Might be enough to sway me towards using this stuff from now on.
