Default how to soften leather

My passenger seat leather is hard. I have tried leather conditioners but no luck. Any other items used to soften leather?

I've had better luck with leather soap to get it soft. And then follow up with conditioner.

I've had some good luck w/ a product called leather honey. It is an oily honey consistancy. You rub it in and let it sit overnight. Have to wipe off the excess. It's a process, but getting oils back into the leather is the only way to soften it back up.

Leather Honey is good stuff. Wait for a warm day and let it sit for 24 hours and wipe the excess off. Also, warm the bottle in some hot water prior to using.

Josh does the leather honey keep it soft for a decent amount of time, say 1-2 years ish?

Or do you have to constantly keep applying it?

I live in AZ, nothing stays moist here for very long... But if I'm consistent at about 6mo it seems to do.

Josh I'm going to try it, my seats are stiff as concrete!

Do you get their cleaner, or just their conditioner?

I used lexol cleaner.

On that leather honey, just know it's a job. After it has had time to soak in you have to wipe it off. It can be a bit of work.

REALLY appreciate the heads up!

I'm also going to ask some detailers if they have experience with it.

I had the driver's side seat bottom redone with leather made to order and the LAST piece of OER seat foam in existance. LOL

See the pic below of the driver's seat. The seat back is original...

Would like to see if the rest could be saved before just recovering everything.

The passenger side seat isn't ripped, but it's hard as a rock.

I used Chemical Guys Leather Cleaner, then used their conditioner. My seats were super hard and dry (it’s an 02 I recently got and I don’t think the seats were ever treated). The leather was so dry it was turning from black to grey. They have a YouTube page and I followed their instructions to a T and my seats are now much softer and turned quite a bit darker again. In a few weeks I’m going to do the process again, the 2 bottles has enough to do the seats at least 10 times.

That is funny you say that. My truck leather seats get cleaned good a few times a year but over the years they went from light to dark.

Dealing with stiff leather can be a real challenge, and I'm glad you've tried leather conditioners. If you're still looking for solutions, I've got a couple of suggestions to consider.

First, you might want to try using a leather softening spray. These products are designed specifically to tackle tough and rigid leather, making it more pliable.

Additionally, for long-term leather care tips and tricks, I recommend checking out this blog I came across: https://vonbaer.com/blogs/blog/real-leather. It's packed with useful insights and advice for leather enthusiasts.
