Talking Even more engine chrome!

Here are some pics of the intake I built for the 69 Camaro LS6 project. I made it out of 3.5" exhaust tubing, welded the 90 on. Then I ground the welds smooth and had it polished and chromed. The filter is positioned inside the fender so that cool air comes in from the small grille beside the headlight.

Looks good, but won't it get too hot and defeat the "cold air" purpose? I made the same thing in my V6 Camaro with Home Depot PVC pipe back in high school.

Any intake will heat soak, and this one sure does look tons better than a cheap black plastic or PVC one. Heat soak really shouldn't be too big of an issue due to the physical size (3.5") of this intake. The real heat comes when the supercharger compresses the air into the engine, and I have an internal intercooler to handle that.
