I've always prefered our stock headlights over the Halos because the overal look of the halos don't really match our hoodlines. So, I would say just paint your stock ones.

the only thing is that i dont want to ruin the stock ones by melting them apart! also im afraid they will not seal right.

You could always try smoke the stock ones and if they don't come out good you could buy the Halos. There also used to be a guy on ebay that sold new f-body headlights cheap, they looked like OEM but not from GM. Did you search for any write ups on the smoked headlight mod yet? I remember a few guys posting really good directions.

Here is a tip for searching:
You might find more/better info by looking for "painted headlight" instead of "smoked headlight".

I like the Halos. I think they go well with the hood lines- much like the stock ones. Anyway, go with what you are comfortable with. Personally I wouldn't take apart my stock headlights, unless I had another set to fall back on, in case I fugged them up.

i like the looks of the halo, its different. but like said above, they dont flow with the factory GM hoods very well, atleast not as good as the stock lights. i painted mine a few months ago and had no problems. i was skeptical, but after it was done, i was like wow, that was so worth the couple bucks in paint and few hours of messing in the garage to get them done. i say save your money and try painting yours. if you mess them up, buy the halos.

Personally I think that Halos look like crap on our cars. Paint your headlights. It is not as hard as you think. I was heasitant to put mine in the oven, but damn they came out nice.
