Installed Stull Grille. Not sure I like it straight on look
Hey guys,
I installed a black Stull grille tonight on my hugger orange Z28. Painted behind it flat black. I like the way it looks, but damn, from straight on, you can see right through it. Anybody here filled the holes and the Camaro lettering?
Also, I've got the orange camaro letters that were on the factory grille. Just thinking out loud how would that look behind the grille? Probably not good.
Last thing. I thought I was being smart to use primer in addition to flat black paint. But when I pulled the masking tape off, you can see the layers of primer under the paint all around the edge. Looks like a small gray stripe at the edge ot the black paint. thinking about just tracking the edge with a black paint pen or something to cover it up.
Pics are in this link. http://photos.yahoo.com/generalz28
Thanks

Trace the edge with black paint for sure. AS for the holes and letters, yeah it bothers me, and if I was to do a major custom job, yes I'd fill the holes and letters, for the subtle but cleaner look.
Do not put the orange letters back there . . . And me no like the head light covers . . . .

Damn, I didn't think you guys woudl be so harsh. WOW. LOL. I have definitely seen worse Stull grilles. Some that weren't even painted behind them.
How come no one ever likes the headlight covers? I love them. I think the Hugger Orange looks silly without them.

You can call me rice. I made it so that I can use my headlights, highbeams, and fog lights all at the same time.......To overcome the darkness of the headlight covers. LOL.
Car needs to be cleaned? Only washed it twice all year. What a waste. Didn't even drive it much this year.

I think it looks fine. But how are you going to keep that area behind the grille clean? That's one thing I don't like with these types of grilles.

Grille looks good, just needs something mounted in the middle to spice if up a bit. I've gotta say too, I'm a fan of the hugger orange w/ clear corners and no light covers. I used to have headlight covers on my other car and they got so damn annoying, taking them off and on all the time. Not to mention it's nearly impossible to see with them on at night.

Thanks,
Yeah, I know a lot of people don't like orange interiors, and Holden engine covers and homemade engine compartment aluminum covers and homemade aluminum air scoop and eclipse fuel door and on and on. LOL.
But, you're right, its my ride. LOL.
