Default Watch out for that Clay Bar!

Its either, I don't know what the "F" I am doing, or the color red is not my friend. Either way, I clayed the car tonight after throughly washing it first, them making sure the clay does not get any thing on it, I used clean soapy water for the lubricant and went over the car. The hood has scratches in it now, and the is a few here and there on the rest of the body, but the hood and spoiler is the worst. I'm not worried, its nothing a Porter Cable won't take out with that Menenza (SP??) polishes. It seems like a Microfiber towel scratches that SS hood. Just more work to do on the paint.

Oh yea, I just ordered that Porter Cable Buffer and Polishes. You guys seem to think this thing is the best, so I will give it a test.

What do you guys think of Claying? Is your luck as bad as mine?

I never had a problem with clay bar before. I used the mothers kit that comes with some lube stuff. I took a whole lot of embedded dirt off my rear bumper, with no scratches.

I used the Zaino bar. I don't think that could be the reason, could it?

I've clayed my red SS with the mother's clay bar system and have had great results. Make sure that the area is well saturated, like soaking wet with auto detailer (meguires quik detailer or eagle one detailer). I have never used soap so I don't know how well it works. Any time the bar slows down resaturate the area immediately. It is a common mistake to let the area become dry. Also, use only enough force to keep the bar on the paint, you don't have to push on it at all, just enough to keep the bar from sliding off the paint. I've got some pics on the homepage in my sig, if you wanna check it out. I taught my friend how to use the clay bar system, and I have some pics of his hugger orange Z right after we clayed it on my page as well.

If you are getting scratches, you are pressing too hard and letting the bar get too dirty before folding and kneading.

it could be from not kneading the clay after you have used it for so long. Once you get the pc it will take care of those scratches.

I have found that mico fiber scratches paint due to the percentage of polyester in it. Other than that the only thing it could be is claying the car while still having dirt on it somehow. Fold the bar a lot as well.

Try getting some good quality MFs from a MF towel specialist such as pakshak or properautocare.

The scratches could be from your finger nail. Thats what I did. Scratches came right out with the P.C. No worries.

Clay isn't meant to remove wax.
