Default Vinyl covered GM key blanks....

I'm having a problem locating the round vinyl covered "GM" key blanks that open the rear hatch on late model F cars...Have had no problem getting the ignition key w/chip, but the rounded keys seem to have disappeared in my area. Been to 4 GM dealers and 2 or 3 locksmiths..All the dealers have are the straight metal uncovered keys--no vinyl covered. Anyone help? Just need 1 blank. Thanks. WJ

You dont have to be an *** either.
You are unique in getting the door/hatch key vinyl covered.
My original is plain metal too.
What year is your car?
Maybe they stopped making the vinyl covered hatch/door key.

My car is a late build '02 SS. By your sig, aren't you and the other person Pontiacs, anyway? Dealers in my area just happen to be out of them... Just was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to find one. Looking for help and you call me an ***? Hope we meet some day.... WJ

Both my '99 and '02 SS cars came with Vinyl-covered round door-hatch keys, by the way, so don't think it's a "rare" thing to have them...Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again. WJ

I could, but thought it would be easier to just pick one up. It's only a $2 piece and to have my parts man special order it would be kinda picky. He's ***** out busy all day long... I'll find one when am out and about....Thanks for the help. WJ

Figured I'd throw in that both sets of my keys have the vinyl cover. I think I did see them at home depot before...

You were being rude to 01 Red WS6 and conveniently changed your post after I commented on it to make yourself sound better.

Back to the Keys.....
What years had vinyl covered door keys and which didn't?

Wasn't being rude to anyone--Just stated that if he could'nt offer help, why reply? Anyway, it's no big deal, I'm over it and hope you're over your childish namecalling... I know '99 and '02 SS cars had vinyl-clad round door and hatch keys--at least mine. (From the factory.) Know nothing about the Firebirds or T/A cars. WJ

WJ SOM SS - Yes both have GM embossed on the key. Its the same style GM has had on there keys for a while. My old 90 Corsica had the same vinyl covers. I could have sworn my ex gf's 99 T/A had the same.

99FormulaM6 - I would but I don't have any working batteries to power my digi camera...

You came across as rude....anyway its over.

I haven't seen any vinyl door keys (for f-bodies) so this is news to me.

I'm going to search on Ebay. Got a great deal on a factory remote awhile back over there....Maybe they've got some of the vinyl-clad round key blanks, also. WJ
