True fire (first time airbrushing)
Ok well i have been able to recreate fire on cars through photoshop so i decided to give it a try with an airbrush on a practice panel. Go easy on me...this is my first time using a airbrush and i had to use a crappy 1/2 gallon compressor that would sputter and spit water out half the time. in the process of getting fittings to hook up to the 60 gallon with moisture traps on it.
And all the colors that go into it....

looks good,
just a thought, but it seems kind of layered, with the brightest points all on the top, you could bring some of the darker colors over the other brighter flames, and vise-versa. its more of a PITA than anything, but makes it even more realistic.

Looks very good for your first attempt. One thing I would say is many of the edges look very defined. I think they need to be 'blured' a little more. When I saw the show about Lavlee doing it he was holding his guides a few inches off the body which I think helped make the edges less defined.
Looking forward to seeing what you do in the future with this.

Dude, that's awesome!
I know a lot of people are giving you tips on how "the other guy does it". Using "the other guy" as inspiration is ok, but just for inspiration. Go your own way with it.
When you get comfortable with your technique let me know - I may make the drive from Houston to take advantage of your "Grand Opening Special Discount Sale"
Think my other half might like flames on her dark blue 98 Taurus??
