Pass. Side Mirror Broke off
I was driving down I-20 today headed home from school, and my damn mirror broke off, the metal brace snapped....SEE PICS BELOW.... I stopped by a collision center on the way to see whats up, and they wanted 225.00 to replace the whole mirror and paint the part. I told them to **** off! :
Anyways the first pic shows the whole housing with the metal brace that broke, and the second shows the brace itself removed. Clearly all I need to do is replace the metal part (pictured alone in the 2nd pic), because the painted mirror housing and the mirror are fine.
Any ideas how to get a replacement part pictured in the second picture?????

Well (and I'm guessing here) that that metal part won't be available as a seperate piece
Might go looking around the local boneyards, surely any 4th gen F body mirror will work (might even get lucky and find a trashed mirror that has that piece intact for little to nothing)

that seems a little high. My side vew was stolen off my car. I looked at junk yards and could not find any. I ended up buying one from Chevrolet for around 100 and it was unpainted. Most body shops I talked to wanted 85 to paint cheapest I found was 60. So with everything it was 160.

See if a metal shop will weld that back together. It may not be possible, but its worth checking out and it'll be cheaper than a new painted mirror .

I tore my driver's side mirror off on the shrub at the end of my driveway a few years ago (long story)... I found a used driver's side mirror on ebay for $20.00. I bought a can of touch-up paint & a can of clear coat and sprayed it myself. So my total investment was about $30.00.
