PAINT--Is this a good price???
PAINT--Is this a good price??? Ok, Im getting my WS9 hood and front bumper cover painted, the front bumper cover doesnt match the rest of the car. Local shop Will paint hood, front cover and blend the fenders for around $600....is this a good price? Any body shop suggestions around Lafayette, IN also appreciated....thanx!!!
Sounds pretty good to me. I had by rear bumper and back quarter panel blended in for $450 and the work was just okay. Don't skimp on paint. Be sure to check out plenty of their work and ask about a guarantee. No Earl Scheib!!!!
That is a good price. What brand of paint do they use? Have you seen any of there work before. I assume they are doing top and bottom of the the hood. That is actually a little too cheap. I work at a shop and doing top/bottom of a ram air hood, front bumper cover, headlight covers, bird cover and blend with the fenders was about $350. That is just materials since I work there, but we only use PPG.
I got the brand name of the paint, it is "GLASURIT" so is that a good brand??? They are a very reputable shop here in Lafayette, they actually have two shops here..name is "Twin City Collision" http://www.tccollision.com/index.htm

Sounds toooooo cheap to me. You get what you pay for. What kind of paint? Are they stripping it down and are they gonna stat from scratch? Are they just painting over the old stuff? Are they fixing any inperfections? For all that work, at a GOOD quality shop that price shop almost be doubled.
Paint: "GLASURIT" the are "prepping" the hood, block sanding etc... and they didnt say anything about stripping the old paint, so I assume they are painting over it.
Glasurit is top notch paint. That is a fair price. In MN body labor is $44-$46 per hour and materials are $25 or so an hour. Between prep and finish that is easily a 8-12 hour job. Make sure thay are doing what you expect.

okay, I ended up gettin ever a better deal than I thought I was going to!!!! When they took my front bumper cover off they noticed it was not OE, it was an aftermarket cover, so when they went to strip the paint off of it it bubbled the plastic or something, so they bought me a brand new factory cover at no charge to me!!! I havent picked the car up yet but the total ended up being $658.70 for the hood, front cover, and blending the fenders.
well I got the car back today, I had to take it back(Im picky!!!) its raining now, but Ill put picks up when I get them....Im taking it back in a month and having the whole car wet sanded and buffed.
