Please show me some pictures of your aftermarket steering wheels.I'm trying to decide which one to get,thanks a lot.

Stick with your stock one so you can keep your air bag. It might save your life someday. Not to mention if you do get in a wreck, the insurance company might want to screw with you since you took the airbag out.

About the only way you are going to justify me in taking out your airbag is by installing a full rollcage, 5 point harness, and a safe, crash tested, aftermarket racing bucket with holes for the 5 point harness.

I seriously hope you don't get involved in a serious accident where you'd need your airbag. I'm sure your wife, girfriend, kids, mother, etc. would understand that you were way too cool to have that airbag. Instead they have to come to grips at your funeral with the fact that your custom wheel crushed your skull.

I still don't believe in them or think it's that big a deal. Where we endangering ourselves all those years driving older generation Camaros that didn't have an airbag? The much more likely outcome of an airbag deploying is getting burned from the 200mph impact with your face, or having your car totalled from a low impact collision because of what it costs to have one reset. The only valid point I see above is that it's true that your insurance rates assume the car has that "safety feature" and you could get burned someday for tampering with it.

Modern safety features do work for you non-believers. The number of deaths per mile driven has gone down significantly since the 1960's.


I'd much rather be burned by my airbag than be dead because I didn't have one. If my aunt had not been driving her Durango with an airbag when she was invovled in a head on collision at 55mph, I doubt she would be here today with us.

its just each to their own, i do believe that the airbag is very valuable for safety and saves many lives,.. dont get me wrong i always buckle up my seat belts vice versa when driving. ive have been in an impact into an stopped car at 45mph in a pickup w/o an airbag, and i wasnt injured (hell maybe it was luck). Also have heard of people getting injured due to the airbag, go figure.

but i do more carshow stuff and autox with the car and i have another car for daily driver, so enhancing the steering wheel is an advantage.. and for autox an aftermarket steering wheel will enhance me for steering, such as for finger grip/ hand positioning will be wayy better than the stock steering wheel.

but yeah an airbag is nice, and really my reply was towards the stock steering wheel looks butt ugly vs an aftermarket wheel such as a Net Momo wheel

Older Camaros weren't made of Fiberglass and plastic.

to the people worrying about airbag safety, the hype about an airbag injuring you is WAY overrated. I would look up the facts.. the incidents are very, very, mere compared to how many lives are saved. Just like if somebody gets a bad burger with something in it, the millions upon millions of good burgers would be overshadowed by the bad one. Same holds true for airbags, they are a life saver, with very, very, rare instances of maybe a broken nose, compared to death. do not believe in the hype please.......

When I got into an accident in my car, if my air bag would have deployed I may have been killed. I wear glasses and upon impact my glasses flew off my face. When it was all over with my glasses were still on the dash with the arms still open. If the bag would have deployed it would have put the arms of the glasses through my face. Saftey equitment is verry subjective and each person should decide what saftey equitment is right for them. Id feel safer in my car with a 4pt roll bar and a harness than I do now with the original eqitment. As for insurance, if you remove your air bag, call and let them know. Yes your rates will go up slightly, but better than getting dicked if you ever get in an accident.

i have the same one dope fed has, its nice and looks good. not to mention i think it was like 29.99 at autozone or sumthing

I can see their point...it is bulky and doesn't look quite right in a fast car. Nothing more than personal preference.
