Default Painting interior panels

Has anyone done this? I really hate the grey color my interior is (plastic and vinyl), and while I know I don't have enough money to replace all the vinyl in the car, I was wondering if plastic paint would work/stick to those areas in the car.

I may just try the plastic moldings around the radio/ac vents, and the console top (areas where some people do carbon fiber).

I have some semi-metallic plastic paint (looks kinda like aluminum when dry), anyone tried this and if so how well does it hold up on those areas / how does it look?

Well I'll paint some small area to see if I like the color.. I am just tired of the interior

As much as I hate eclipses, I rode in a friends from work the other day and that interior is 4x better looking than mine, and it is just plain black everywhere (not the faded looking grey like in mine).

Guess I'm just looking for something to spruce mine up...

So, anyone got pics of this done in our cars?

Hey that looks pretty neat, that is the color I have too. Did you just spray over the plastic, or sand it down first, or what?

Over 1/2 the work is in the "preparation"....you gotta bleed the plastic dry to provide for adhesion and smooth to the touch......moocho time, and then apply a good primer prior to putting the OEM exterior paint!

I had my friend at the body shop do it, but I removed the parts and did some of the preparation! Not expensive, but time-consuming to do it properly!

Firehawk did a very nice and tasteful job on his interior... two thumbs up for not going too overboard! Only thing I wouldnt have done was that console. I would have left it stock. It tends to over do it for me. Some billet pieces would make that look very very nice.

Definitely.....DONE! Just wanted "accents" to enhance the interior!

Agreed.......anything more would look ricey! I kinda think it has a cockpit appearance! .....and the polished stainless steel Firehawk emblem on the dash was the final touch!

While I don't normally advocate such a thing that does look pretty good. When its a tastefull color scheme and done right, such customization can be a good thing. Most often though tacky colors are chosen and the paint work is poor, giving it the "rice rocket in a can look".

BUT you won't find neon except a small thin line (between the 2 fiberglass shells)

Yes, I was going for the "classy" look! Luckily, it hasn't worn on me one bit! Just hope it holds up over time!

The interior was just so bland, and required some attention IMO

As a fellow LA member, I would advise against it. I work with a guy who went spray-happy with his truck, and it came out horribly. Granted he painted EVERYTHING, but he also didn' t take the time to research it and do it right. The accents aren' t so bad, but it' s just not my taste. The aluminum color will probably compliment the graphite interior, more than contrast like red and yellow. Just please do your homework before taking the cap off the paint can.

By all that is unholy, why do automatically assign a painted interior a "rice" label? Damn.

A painted interior can look nice, if done properly and not overboard. If you paint too much, it may look gaudy, but I wouldn't call it "rice".

Firehawk526 your interior looks pretty classy.

i did mine about 2 years ago...had nothing but compliments on it, i did it silver, sanded it a long time to give it the brushed alum look....just don't go overboard with it...a little here and there is tasteful and brings life to the interior...now if i would have gone orange, yea..i can see that being ricey...but silver and dark grey go good

I agree. Just you a subtle color and don't go overboard and you should be okay. However, it is your car and you can do whatever you want to it as long as your happy with the outcome.
