Im asking this because I just got a 2002 Camaro SS, NBM, And well I dont want to see alot of swirl marks on it. I want to take the best of car.

Please let me know of any tips or perks of the job

My regimen for a black T/A:
I use a sheepskin mitt (bought at Wal mart of all places) and 2 buckets, one has the soap and water, the other has plain water.
Dip the mitt in the bucket with the soap & water apply to car, rinse mitt in bucket with plain water, repeat
If the car is really dirty you might consider hosing the car off before washing it (gets some of the worst crap off it)
Wash from the top down (you probably know this, but just in case you don't)
Use a seperate mitt /cloth for the wheels
Dry with a leaf blower (electric only)
Despite your best efforts you manage to get swirl marks, a PC and some Menzerna will get them out
Enjoy your new SS

Warm water, sponge or soft bristle brush, Meguiars car wash soap and a chamois to dry the body. Simple green and an air hose for the engine and wheels. Once I get up some more $$ I'll get a PC and some wax/polish and then I'll start detailing my baby.

 

Mr. Clean Auto-dry, I havent cleaned my car this fast before

 

Mr. clean autodry and a microfiber mit.

 

I use Tropi-Care soap, 2 microfiber wash mits, microfiber waffle weave drying towels, 2 buckets, leaf blower. First bucket for the paint. Do the top of the car, clean mitt. Do the bottom of the car. Second bucket for wheels/wheel wells.

 

A bucket with water and Eagle One Wet car wash...it smells sweet.
and I use a hand glove/sponge thing from walmart.
Then I use the California Water Blade (works great to get most the water off fast)
Then towel dry the rest of the spots/windows.
And use the same towel to polish the wheels...I just rub them though.

 

Eagle One bucketless car wash. Spray car down with water, squirt a couple times on each panel and wash. I use a nice soft mit. That car wash spray works awesome. And no bucket!!

 

ive used waterless car wash and it works pretty well. But i use Poorboys car wash with a meguiars ultra plush mitt and dry with some excel detail WW towels

 

I'm changing my routine to the following, after discussing it with a person on this board whose work I really admire:

Bucket of soapy water for wheels, tires, wheel wells, and exhaust pipes (I'm using Meguiars Gold Class, but will likely switch to NXT Wash when I run out) with a synthetic mitt or wheel brush
Bucket of soapy water for body panels with a lamb's wool mitt
Bucket of clean water for rinsing out the mitt between body panels

The reason for the separate buckets is brake dust. If you get brake dust in your water (and subsequently transfer it from the water to the mitt you're about to rub all over the paint surface), you're going to get more swirls. Rinse the car often and get yourself some good waffle weave microfiber towels for drying.

Quick and Easy Wash here for the entire car...even the wheels. Cotton mitts, and waffle weave microfiber towel to dry. Quick detail immediately afterwards with Quik Shine.

I'm starting to stockpile QEW...I refuse to use anything else to wash my car.

Mr Clean BITCHESSSS!!! I then use some spot detailer for all the spots i missed.

 

I use Meguiars chenille washmitt for above body mouldings, OXO feathered tip wash brush for lower body, OXO wheel & OXO tire brushes, with Meguairs NXT car wash soap using two bucket method.

Car is dried with Big Blue Drying towel (microfiber) and then Eagle One Wipe & Shine detailing spray using microfiber towels. Every two washes I apply Eagle One WAUD.

Mr. Clean Autodry on body, regular car wash on wheels and tires.

 

I use a cloth sponge and best of all if you haven't tried it you need to... KIT Carnuba Wash and Wax it is the best out there great sudsing action and you get a wax effect without all of the effort, i grew up with this and everyone i know has been using it or i have " converted them" ...highly recommend it..on a black car.

I am new to the black car thing and it's driving me nuts

 

i use an absorber... having went from 2 white cars( never realized or appreciated how easy they were to keep clean and pretty, that will be the next color car i get..) and then now owning my BLACK TA for 4+ years, my recommendation is to do a good clay bar and detailed polish and wax process and then just keep waxing and polishing it as much as possible, in the long run it will make quick washes and quick maintenance a snap....california duster and pick a good spray detailer that you like and life won't be so bad....

 

I used to use an Absorber, but it started doing more harm than good. If it gets any dirt on it, it WILL cause swirl marks. Towels have nap, which is the depth of the little "fingers" that make up the towel's surface. The deeper the nap, the more plush the towel. These fingers pull dirt away from the paint, while the Absorber has no fingers, so any dirt stays against the paint.
