Smile Blue gauges in TA

After some deliberating I finally decided to try to turn the interior blue from red. I know a lot of people say that it can't be done as there is red film yadda yadda. But after reading InfiniteReality's write up I decided to have a go. Thanks for the write up! Still gotta change out the headlight and HVAC overlays but the speedo and stereo controls are done Sorry if its hard to see during the day. If anyone is interested Ill take some night pics too when it gets dark. Heres a link to his site http://www.evlls1.com/interiorlighting.html

There is only one problem with using Camaro gauges in a TA, where the TA has the service light, the Camaro has the highbeam indicator. So whenever the car starts, I see an orange "service" light come on through the highbeam oh well... you win some you lose some.

How do you plan on doing to door panel lights? I have TA door panels and i don't see how you can change the color on them.

This was on InfintiteReality's site:

"DOOR LIGHTS
Remove the Phillips head screw and pop off the door lock cover. Carefully slide off the door handle bezel and remove the bulb in the back. You will need to drill out the red lense inside where the bulb goes. ONLY drill out the bottom of it and leave the top intact so you will have something to lock your socket back in place. This will be trial and error. I’d drill a little bit, check to see if all the red lense was gone with a flash light and keep going until it was. When you have all the red gone you can bring it back to the car. On the socket, remove the #74 bulb and replace it with the #74 blue LED bulb. Verify it works and re-install it back to the door. Repeat on the other door"

I havent gotten around to this yet but I'm guessing it works.

For the gauges, i spent ~$38 shipped. the gauges dont need anything else just plug and play. For the LED's $2 for resistors and I havent found a good supplier for LED's yet, so I'm still paying way too much for them ($3.40 a piece @ 7 LED's) at a local electronics store. Most people buy them in bulk for like $50 for a couple hundred LED's or something like that.

Theres always a way, I just don't have a TA and don't sell kits for them. It wouldn't be efficent for me..

Just go to www.superbrightleds.com and get them from there. You don't need any resistors and all you have to do is get a few sockets from autozone and you are set for life.

Hey Kraazymike, How did you get the speedo,rpm,etc..needles off of the gauges? I bought almost the same background for my gauges.

TIA,
JON

Didnt need to! The gauges just slip right on. Just point all the needles up and put it on. Really simple. Thats the only reason why I did it. I would never want to take the needles off and open up my own little hell.
