I don't think I'd go with flat black for the scoop and hockey sticks. It'd just be too much of a "primer" looking contrast with the black red. I also don't think that flat black belongs on those areas of the car. Maybe the tail panel, if anything. I'd go gloss black on them to keep the sharp and shiny look.

I think the matte finish would look great with the red, be all late 60s early 70s muscle car feel

Yeah I forgot to say that too. Don't get the F1s, they're terrible. No traction whatsoever.
Go with the Fuzion ZRi's for a cheap tire that hooks good and lasts long. I love mine and have read nothing but good reviews about them.

I like the idea of the Matte black stripes and hood scoops. Though for the grille I would do some like Tony(Nineball)'s SS grille. I really think that having a black center surrounding the "SS" with red outlining the whole thing.

I think its just too much going on IMO. I say either do the hood scoop, or the hockey stripes not both. With the grille, and possibly whistler headlights there will be enough contrast to make it stand out. Doing ZL-1 stripes, hockey stripes, black grille, black tail panel etc it'll look like too much is tacked on IMO.
